In 2021, we brought another breeding potential into our home, Shadygrove’s Begin a New Ballad, Lyric. Lyric comes from a long line of show champions and healthy, beautiful dogs on her mom, Reba’s, side. Her father, Indigo, won the Leonberger Club of America’s National Specialty in 2023, but alongside that, he is a therapy dog with a gentle spirit. These are some of the reasons we were thrilled to be able to select the pick female puppy from the Reba and Indigo breeding.

We chose Lyric out of her large litter because she was a puppy who was confident and sweet, and we could not be happier with our choice. As she has matured into a young adult, Lyric has been an absolute joy. She is a dog who makes us laugh every single day with her antics. She is also a dog who can move, with a national #11 placement in FastCAT for 2023, and she is a dog who is stable and gentle enough to have certified as a Go Team therapy and crisis response dog. She has passed all her health testing with flying colors, and we are so ready to welcome baby bergers into our home once more.

Lyric has had one litter of ten puppies on June 29th, 2024 (her own birthday!)

We have plans to breed Lyric one more time early 2026.

Letty

Letty

Letty, Good Life’s Highway Tune, is Lyric’s daughter. She was the first female puppy born in our H litter, on Lyric’s birthday. She is an active pup, now a young lady. We call her “our joy” because Letty loves life!

At less than a year old, she already received her Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog novice titles.

We will see how she develops as she grows, but for now, we love her to pieces!

Izzie

Izzie (pronounced ‘easy’) came to live with us when he was just over five years old. Due to circumstances beyond his first owners’ control (who were long time friends of ours), they were no longer able to care for him. Izzie had been imported from Poland as a much-loved puppy with dreams of increasing the genetic diversity in our country. After allowing Izzie several months to adjust to our home and becoming more and more impressed with him, we decided to complete his health testing, though he was approaching six years of age. We were thrilled when Izzie passed all of his testing.

Izzie is an active, moderate sized male (just over 30 inches at the shoulder and a lean 125 lbs). A link to his pedigree can be found here. He loves to run with Letty and Lyric. He has been mostly people and dog neutral, and he integrated into our pack with no issues. He was pretty ‘easy’ to fall in love with.
